FAMU's Department of Photography was formed in 1975 and is one of the oldest schools of its kind in Europe. It offers a three-year bachelor’s programme and a subsequent two-year master’s programme, both taught in Czech and English. Studies take place in seven studios led by renowned photographers and contemporary artists. Students familiarize themselves with a wide range of techniques for the production and post-production of photographic images. By learning their strengths and weaknesses, each student is given the creative means to support their own intentions and preferences. Additionally, students have the opportunity to gain experience in other FAMU departments (cinematography, editing, sound engineering etc.) during their studies. Courses in the history and theory of photography and media are also an integral part of the program. -
