In the MSc in Nanoscience, you will work together with world-class scientists: top researchers from the Zernike Institute for Advanced Materials provide education in the courses. Top researchers also provide supervision in four individual projects, in different research groups. Also, our program is the home of the 2016 Nobel Prize Winner in Chemistry, Ben Feringa, and the Nobel Prize winner in Physics, Frits Zernike; Spinoza Prize Winner Bart van Wees teaches in several of the given core courses. The MSc in Nanoscience is built upon the research cycle: ranging from design to synthesis, and device building, characterization, and research, to the theoretical foundation and improved design. It is a selective Master's degree: that assures you are studying as a cohort in a small but very motivated and talented group of (international) students. Our program is a 2-year full of partial scholarships for all admitted students. Also, we are among the top-3 of all Master's degree programs in the Netherlands 5 years in a row (Dutch Higher Education Guide 2019). -

On the nanometre scale, the distinction between disciplines such as physics, chemistry and biology becomes less clear. Nanoscience and nanotechnology are therefore characterised by a high degree of interdisciplinarity. The Nanoscience programme at Lund University has its base in a physics description of nanoscale phenomena, but, depending on your background, you can also choose to specialise in fields such as nanoelectronics, materials science or biophysics. The programme is part of NanoLund, one of the world’s leading nanoscience centres. You will interact with cutting-edge research throughout the programme, starting in the first semester and building up to the Master’s project. -

The purpose of the programme is to give you broad and fundamental knowledge in the fields of physical and theoretical chemistry and chemical physics. Students develop advanced laboratory skills, a profound theoretical comprehension of fundamental mechanisms and a good understanding of practical applications. Special emphasis is given to an unbroken line of understanding, from quantum mechanical description of atoms and molecules to complex supramolecular structures, as well as their industrial and biological applications. -

The programme provides you with the opportunity to acquire an advanced level of theoretical and practical knowledge and skills within the fields of analytical, organic, organometallic, bioinorganic and coordination chemistry. Through a combination of advanced courses and a Master’s degree project or projects, you are given the opportunity to specialise in the fields mentioned. Studies build on a previous grounding in chemistry and enable you to develop the ability to apply independent ideas to issues and problems in chemistry or its neighbouring fields. -

Students are expected to have thebasic chemistry skillsobtained from the bachelor's courses. The Master of Science program (2 years) is offered in the curriculum:Advanced Synthesis in Chemistry. The studies are closely related to the research at the Faculty - we believe that the best teaching is linked to research and we ensure that our programs are dynamic and up to date. Students are offered state of the art courses of advanced synthetic techniques and instrumental methods used in structural studies as well as a variety of classes presenting a correlation between the structure of chemical compounds, both organic and inorganic, and their reactivity. Both curricula were elaborated by leading scientists, a specialist in their area. -

Strongly increasing societal demand in the fields of Environment, Sustainable Development and Health, implies a synergy of advanced skills in Chemistry and Biology Sciences. In order to be able to effectively respond to this demand and to implement innovative solutions providing efficient answers to these requests, it is essential to perfectly understand the interaction of contaminants with living organisms and particularly their structures, properties, reactivities/activities in natural ecosystems. -

The teaching program, comprising lectures, supervised and practical work, and case studies, is taught by university lecturers and researchers, but also by personnel from the socio-professional sector. The selection and appropriate use of material require chemical expertise that draws on knowledge of the material preparation and characterization sectors and training in interpretation and modeling of the structural and functional properties of materials. Designed specifically for students taking courses in which chemistry is the predominant subject, the CPCM curriculum offers training courses in each of these different sectors. The content of the teaching program is the result of a general synthesis concerning sustainable development and the use of innovative materials that provide a potential response to new requirements and challenges related to energy and the environment. -

Nanoscience is the study of structures and materials on the scale of nanometers. Scientists around the world are now beginning to fashion the tools needed to manipulate and engineer nanoscale structures, with these technologies set to have a dramatic effect on future advances in medicine, biology, and energy, as well as in materials science, semiconductor devices, and computer technology. This MSc in Nanoscience has been developed to equip students with comprehensive knowledge of key chemical and physical concepts in nanoscience, crossing conventional discipline boundaries from chemistry to specialised areas of physics and nanomedicine. -
