The program develops a knowledge base through three core courses and provides for an option of specialization. Candidates who would benefit from this program include: Local baccalaureate graduates from the School of Arts and Science who wish to obtain a master’s degree. Individuals employed in business/industry who wish to develop and broaden their technological and problem-solving abilities. The Biology Faculty Research Profiles provides brief descriptions of the Biology faculty research interests. Students may pursue the M.S. degree in Biological Sciences in one of two options. The Thesis Option is a research-intensive program designed to provide students a strong foundation in fundamental biological principles and theories through coursework and the completion of a faculty-guided research project (thesis). The Non-thesis Option allows students to gain an in-depth understanding of biology through coursework and the writing of a graduate research paper.
