One of the principles we are bearing in mind when setting up the Distance program is to keep it as close to the On-Campus program as possible, not only its content and teaching methods but also the way of assessing students. [+]
From the academic year 2014-2015 onwards, the Master of Statistics has been gradually offered as Distance Learning (DL) Program, next to and in parallel with the on-campus program.
Enrolling for the DL Program means that as a student you will take the program from a distance, i.e. from home, workplace or virtually any place with access to the internet.
The on- and off-campus program are offered in parallel, synchronized as far as practically feasible, and with maximal flexibility. It will be possible to switch between the on-campus and off-campus programs.
The content and learning outcomes within and across courses are identical.
In practice, the study load has proven to be too heavy to combine the full-time program (60 credits) with a job. Combining a part-time program of 30 credits with a (part-time) job is expected to be feasible.... [-]
The master program combines a solid study of principles of applied and biostatistics with up-to-date information on topics such as clinical trials, public health, longitudinal data, survival analysis, genetics, survey methodology. [+]
The need for well-trained biostatisticians, bioinformaticians and epidemiological and public-health scientists is ever increasing, enhanced by the scientific revolution in molecular biology and genetics, and its impact on health and the environment.
Hasselt University’s Master of Statistics with specializations: Biostatistics, Bioinformatics, and Epidemiology & Public Health Methodology, keeps abreast of such evolutions. The master program combines a solid study of principles of applied and biostatistics with up-to-date information on topics such as clinical trials, public health, longitudinal data, survival analysis, genetics, survey methodology…
The specialization in Bioinformatics makes it possible to keep an even closer pace with the more specific professional needs and skills required due to the development of novel experimental techniques in molecular biology andgenetics.... [-]
