Coursework for this degree includes instruction in chemistry, biology, pharmacology, physiology, and microbiology and in topics such as organic chemistry, protein chemistry, bioanalytical chemistry, enzymology. Many programs allow specializations like molecular biology, structural biology, and bioorganic chemistry. Both thesis and non-thesis programs are available. Thesis programs require more independent research and lab work.
