The Architectural Design specialization within the M.Arch. program at the Faculty of Architecture, CEPT University is an advanced design stream intended for architects to explore, experiment and critically reimagine design as a discipline, empowered by the experience of practice. The specialization has a broader mandate compared to other M.Arch streams and allows students to explore the following themes - new tools and technologies of design, design for social change, reimagining the agency of architectural practitioners, among other things. Students also have opportunities to explore design theory, particularly in the realm of form and aesthetics, ways of making, computational design, history of design and contemporary practice.
Students on this master course will learn environmental design methods which relate to the various stages of architectural design and will be able to evaluate existing buildings and design new ones following a combined bioclimatic and building occupant focused approach. The course covers both the wider contextual and sustainable approach to environmental design, and the more technical aspects of environmentally and energy conscious building design and performance.
The speciality of Architecture was established at the faculty of Fine Arts. The faculty of Engineering was established in the 2005-2006 academic year and the chair of Architecture have been included in its composition.
