goals

The Master's Degree in Theoretical Physics of the Faculty of Physical Sciences of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid offers specialized training to those students who, after completing a Degree in Physics or other related subjects, want to consolidate their knowledge or start a research career in this area.

The Master covers all current aspects of Theoretical Physics from Elementary Particles and Field and String Theory to Cosmology or Statistical Physics, through Quantum Computing, General Relativity or Mathematical Physics.

Recipients

The typical profiles of the students that we hope to receive in this University Master are:

  1. Graduates or graduates in Physics with a focus on Theoretical Physics that, in principle, will not require completing training supplements.
  2. Graduates or graduates in Mathematics, Engineering or Physics with an orientation to Applied Physics, with basic knowledge of Theoretical Physics, who will be recommended to take training supplements.

Regarding the admission criteria to the University Master's Degree, the academic record in the access degree will be valued with a weight of 60%, the candidate's curriculum vitae with 20% and the adequacy of the candidate's profile to the objectives and contents of the program with 20%.

Why study this master?

Our experience in previous university Master's studies indicates that the majority of students continue their academic training obtaining scholarships or predoctoral contracts at this and other universities. Subsequently they obtain postdoctoral contracts and access academic positions. Another part of our students continue in middle school. The rest obtain work in private activities related mainly to the fields of information, computing and financial activities, due to their training in mathematics, statistics, simulation and computing.

Based on our previous experience, our students obtain, practically in their entirety, contracts within a period of less than one year in any of the activities described above.

Admission requirements for masters

Non-enabling university masters

  • Be in possession of any of the following titles:
    • Spanish official university degree .
    • Title issued by an institution of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and empowering in the country of issue for access to Master's education.
    • Title of educational systems outside the EHEA that empowers in the country of issuance for access to Master's education, homologated or declared equivalent to the degree and academic level of Degree or Degree by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training . In case of lacking the mentioned homologation or equivalency, it will be necessary to have authorization or access permission granted by this University.
  • Or be carrying out studies leading to the obtaining of any of the previous degrees during the course in which the pre-registration is carried out and be in a position to prove the obtaining of the same before the date established in the corresponding call (see href = "https: //www.ucm.es/requisitos-de-admision-a-masteres ).
  • In addition, students from foreign educational systems, whose mother tongue is different from Spanish, must prove level B2 of the Spanish language (or higher) .
  • Specific requirements that any of the requested masters may have. You can consult it by accessing the website of the Master itself.
