The Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters Degree in Sustainable Transportation and Electrical Power Systems (EMJMD STEPS) will provide students with the advanced education required to become highly qualified electrical and electronic engineers in the three areas of the energy sector which require the highest knowledge of technological content and that have the highest professional requirements.
The Program envisions 2 academic years, composed of four 30 ECTS semesters, for a total of s120 ECTS. Students can choose the curriculum which they wish to attend depending on their background and their professional interests. The course of study is organized into three curricula.
- Curriculum "Sustainable Transportation"
- Curriculum "Electrical Power Systems" (Design, Analysis, and Operation for the More Efficient and Resilient Grid).
- Curriculum "Electrical Power Systems" (Technologies for the More Electronic Grid).
Students will study the various subject of the Program in at least 4 different countries, and they will be able to choose between 2 different mobility programs: Rome-Nottingham-Oviedo or Coimbra-Nottingham-Oviedo. Students will also have an internship opportunity that will be held at a partner university or at a company in Europe, America, or Asia. The subjects will be taught in English, but students will have the opportunity of working through at least 3 other official EU languages. Students will attend a 2-week Summer school at the University of Oviedo to meet other colleagues, University coordinators, etc.
Students wishing to focus on the Sustainable Transportation and Electrical Power Systems (Design, Analysis, And Operation for the More Efficient and Resilient Grid) curriculum will spend the first period of their studies in Rome, while those focusing on Electrical Power Systems (Technologies for the More Electronic Grid) curriculum will attend classes in Coimbra. Semester 2 will be devoted to the study of the advanced subjects of the ST and EPS curricula in Nottingham. During Semester 3 students from any of the proposed curricula will complete their specialization studies in Oviedo. Finally, during semester 4 students will carry out an internship in one of the partner Universities or at world-leading companies. They will also undertake guided research to draft their Master's Degree graduation thesis.
