About

The Master in Spanish and Latin American Music is an official title, adapted to the European Higher Education Area. It offers an advanced and specific study of the musical heritage of Spain and Latin America. In it, the student is provided with the training tools for the study of its history, sources and historiography, as well as the mastery of methodologies such as documentation, analysis or musical editing.

For this, the Department of Musicology of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid has the teaching, the only independent one that exists in the Spanish university dedicated to this discipline. Made up of professors of accredited international prestige, with a deep dedication to the investigation of Spanish and Latin American musical heritage, which has generated numerous projects and publications on a wide variety of topics. There are four active research groups in the Department (musical iconography, Spanish music from the 19th and 20th centuries, early music and popular music) in addition to the endorsement of the Complutense Institute of Musical Sciences, a center of reference and fundamental institution for the study and recovery of Spanish and Ibero-American musical heritage.
