About

In accordance with Royal Decree 1393/2007, of October 29, "the Master's degree courses are aimed at acquiring advanced training, of a specialized or multidisciplinary nature, aimed at academic or professional specialization, or at promote initiation in investigative tasks ”.

For this purpose, the Master in Geology Engineering is proposed within the postgraduate courses taught at the Faculty of Geological Sciences of the Complutense University.

The Master is justified according to three fundamental aspects:

  • Make available to graduates in Geological Engineering, Bachelor of Geology and related qualifications the most up-to-date knowledge and techniques and pointers in Geological Engineering and Geotechnics. It must be remembered that in the Community of Madrid there is no Master in this discipline.
  • To provide the necessary tools so that the graduates who wish to do so may begin their research and complete their doctoral thesis, contributing to the advancement of knowledge of Geological Engineering.
  • Satisfy a social demand that calls for increasingly qualified professionals in the fields of Geological Engineering and Geotechnics.

The Master has an academic-scientific character and at the same time develops the applied and professional components, including for example the realization, by the students, of real practical cases presented by professionals of Geological Engineering and Geotechnics, either in the laboratories of the Faculty and / or in private companies or public bodies.

Eventually, the Faculty Coordination Commission of the Faculty will study the admission of graduates or graduates in Environmental Sciences, Chemistry, Physics or related official degrees, from other engineering, and from other degrees not mentioned.

Why study this master?

The University Master's Degree provides specialized training to geologists who want to deepen their knowledge of Geological Engineering. Geologists with previous Geotechnical experience can also deepen and cover the entire field of study and knowledge of Geological Engineering.

In the case of engineers, this University Master's Degree provides detailed knowledge of the geological bases of Geotechnical applications, their analysis methods and problem solving.

The Faculty maintains agreements with companies that offer the possibility of developing professional practices during the second semester or summer. These practices are compulsory for inexperienced students.
