goalsThe main objective of the Master's Degree is to provide specialized and excellent training (theoretical, methodological and practical) to graduates who want to deepen all those aspects related to the exploration and evaluation of mineral resources and hydrocarbons.
The experience of accredited professionals shows that, depending on the variations in the natural resources market, these professionals have alternated their work activities between the exploration of hydrocarbons and that of mineral resources.
For this reason, this Master combines the competences that allow the students who study it to work in the prospecting of both types of natural resources.RecipientsGraduates in subjects related to Geology and Geological Resources, such as Geology, Geological Engineering, Mining Engineering, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Geophysics, Geochemistry, Terrain Engineering, among others. Why study this master?Climate change and the technological revolution are already engines of global socio-economic transformation. The imperative ecological transition has its epicenter in energy renewal, nowadays based on hydrocarbons. The improvement in the efficiency of exploration, exploitation and use of traditional resources, together with the search for new strategic resources, constitute a scientific and technological challenge of great importance. At the same time, decarbonization must be supported by technologies such as geological storage or CO2 reconversion.
The new energy models will also require the exploitation of a huge amount of mineral resources destined to cover the growing demand for a good number of chemical elements, essential for the development and large-scale deployment of the technologies necessary for them. Added to this challenge is the growing need for exploration of strategic minerals, whose availability is key on the geopolitical map in the short and medium term. Geologists, geophysicists and geochemists are the professionals who bear the burden of their exploration and evaluation and this Master shows the necessary tools for this.
This title aims to create a solid foundation for work in research, development and innovation in the field of exploration of geological resources. Graduates will be trained to carry out their work in public or private centers, institutions and companies for the exploration and exploitation of mineral and energy resources.
The Faculty maintains agreements with companies that offer the possibility of developing professional practices and offers highly trained teachers with excellent equipment and material resources (classrooms, laboratories, library…) and services (CAI, bus for field practices…). The Master has a high content of practical teachings (management of specific software such as Petrel and LeapFrog, laboratory, and field practices with multi-day camps).Admission requirements for mastersNon-enabling university mastersBe in possession of any of the following titles:Spanish official university degree .
