Environmental Management and Sustainable Energy (EMSE) is an interdisciplinary Master of Science Program based on a modern curriculum oriented towards the sustainability of resources, processes, and energy. EMSE is the first English-taught master’s program in the field of Environmental Engineering in Romania (since 2010). Due to its performances in education and research, this program is ranked as the best in the country. The program offers in-depth knowledge in the Environmental field, thus perfectly responding to the HR training needs of companies, governmental/non-governmental organizations, research institutions, and policymakers.
The Environmental Management and Sustainable Energy (EMSE) Master Program mission is to train specialists in the field of Environmental Science and Engineering (according to MO – Official Monitor 5644/2012) which fits perfectly the TUIASI mission, its educational and research objectives and development strategy.
The EMSE Program is recommended to graduates in engineering and environmental studies, ecologist, biologists, chemists and other professionals which will appreciate the important multi- and the inter-disciplinary dimension of this master of science program.
The EMSE Master of Science Program provides deeper knowledge and understanding in environmental management and related instruments, applied for sustainable production and consumption and sustainable energy use.
The EMSE Master of Science Program is based on a modern curriculum with basic and specific disciplines that give insight into environmental technology & management and sustainable energy. The state-of-the-art curriculum provides a clear and coherent line of study and at the same time, it ensures a strong multidisciplinarity.

Duration & Credits
The EMSE Master of Science Program responds perfectly to the HR training needs of companies, NGO’s Governmental organizations (EPA’s, water authorities, energy authorities, etc), secondary education institutions and research organizations in the fields of environmental management and sustainable resources management.
The EMSE Master Program graduates will have competencies to occupy the following positions:
- Environmental Management System responsible or consultant
- Environmental protection responsible
- Sustainable energy specialist
- Renewable energy consultant
- Environmental manager
- Environmental impact and risk evaluation specialist
- Environmental monitoring specialist
- Environmental auditor
- Graduates may apply for such positions in Romania or abroad in multi-national companies
Admission & Fees
EU/EEA/Swiss Confederation citizens must acquire recognition of graduated studies for admission in a Romanian higher education institution, which will have to be assessed by the Romanian Centre for Equivalence and Recognition of Diplomas (CNRED). A certificate issued by CNRED recognising the candidate’s previous studies will have to be included in the application papers, along with application form and copies of study documents, birth certificate, passport, medical certificate, international English language certificate, photos and, where applicable, name change documents, certification showing student status and diploma.
Non-EU citizens’ application file must include application form and copies of study documents, academic records for completed studies, birth certificate, passport, medical certificate, international English language certificate, the document proving residence abroad and the document proving payment of the file processing fee.
Important: other than these general requirements, each candidate must also meet certain specific requirements when applying to this study program.
Admission to this Master’s program is based on the average grade of the Bachelor’s graduation exam.
- For non-EU students, the tuition fee is 270 EUR per month (2430 EUR per year).
- For EU students, the tuition fee is 3000 RON per year.
