Program description

General purpose

To train high quality academic personnel capable of conceiving, promoting and developing innovations in higher education and carrying out research to support educational change, fostering an understanding of the interactive process between education and the economic, political and social framework, in the context of the new international scenarios.

Specific objectives

  • Contribute to qualitatively improve the performance of the academics of higher education institutions.
  • Contribute to qualitatively improve the training of young graduates who join the institutions of Higher Education in the Northwest and help them face with a vision of the future the demands of the new professions that modernization requires and those that derive from the expansion of enrollment .
  • Prepare high-level professionals, capable of developing educational innovation projects and conducting research that supports them.
  • Provide academics with frontier knowledge and train them as innovative agents of educational processes.
  • Provide theoretical knowledge that allows the analysis of the contemporary discussion of the field of educational innovation, as well as the understanding of the current problem of higher education, conceived as an eminently social and highly complex phenomenon.
  • Form high level academics for the design of educational policies.
  • To train academics capable of using state-of-the-art technologies in the original and innovative design of alternatives to the growing complexity of educational demand in Northwest Mexico.

Egress Profile

The student will be trained to:

  • Undertake educational research processes at the top level.
  • Apply the methodology of educational innovation in the processes of communication and teaching-learning in the classroom.
  • To solve in the best way the academic problems that may arise, applying appropriate innovations, as the case may be.
  • Intervene with scientific bases in the development of plans and study programs as well as in teaching-learning processes, using innovations.
  • Advise academic issues of an innovative nature that have to be resolved by the authorities and / or directors of the academic bodies in which they provide their services.
  • Decide on the ideal solution alternatives to various educational problems.
  • Design and apply educational models that use state-of-the-art technologies in response to the growing complexity of educational demand.

How to enter this postgraduate course?

Entry requirements

  • Application for Income
  • Explanatory memorandum
  • Copy of bachelor's degree.
  • Copy of the certificate of studies of degree, indicating the total of academic credits covered.
  • Proof of minimum average of 85 in the bachelor's degree.
  • Original or certified copy of birth certificate.
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Institutional TOEFL certificate with a minimum score of 450 points.
  • Registration to the National Graduate Entrance Exam (EXANI-III) of CENEVAL.
  • Interview with the selection committee.
  • Foreign students must also: if the applicant's first language is different from Spanish, they must provide proof of proficiency in the Spanish language as a second language. The student must have sufficient knowledge of the language to take notes, take exams and assignments.
  • Student visa.

The applicant must:

  • Have a good disposition for teamwork.
  • Have an open attitude to change.
  • Be responsible to assume commitments with the fulfillment of the tasks entrusted.
  • Have sensitivity to understand their environment.
  • Have the necessary disposition to use enough time in order to fulfill the objectives indicated in the MIE.
  • Have an intellectual aptitude for studying a master's degree (reading comprehension and writing skills, reading comprehension of English, abstract thinking).
  • Have basic knowledge about education sciences (sociological, psychopedagogical, and philosophical).
  • Have basic skills for handling computer equipment.
  • Have the ability to express their personal motives and interest in some field of application of educational innovation.

What do you need to get the degree?

Qualification requirements

To obtain a master's degree, you must:

  • Approve the total credits and meet the other requirements established in the corresponding graduate program;
  • Proof of understanding a language other than Spanish, as established by the Academic Committee of the Postgraduate Program according to the study program.
  • Pass the examination of grade in the written phase and in the oral phase before a jury named ex profeso.
  • For the degree of doctor, to pass a general examination of knowledge in the case in which the graduate program contemplates it.
  • Comply with the provisions and requirements demanded by the School Services Office for the issuance of the degree.

Titration options

To pass the examination of degree in the written and oral phase, in the terms indicated in articles 61 and 62 of the Regulation of Postgraduate Studies of the Universidad de Sonora . The written phase of the master's degree-level examination will consist of the preparation of the individual thesis. Present and defend the corresponding thesis, before the designated thesis committee, based on the project developed with the advice of its thesis supervisor and the tutors of its committee.
