Program description

General purpose

To train professionals with general knowledge in the contents, theories and methods of studying the processes of economic integration, with skills for self-learning and understanding of the results and advances of this branch of modern economic science. Also, specialized in the processes of integration of the world economy, which contribute to regional and country development; as well as to promote and strengthen research in economic integration processes.

Specific objectives

  • Consolidate the basic training of students in the main theories of integration.
  • Update the preparation in Economic Integration of professionals who dedicate or plan to dedicate themselves to the teaching or research of this branch of the knowledge of the economy.
  • Prepare trained personnel for the autonomous exercise of economic research tasks, with theoretical, methodological and technical skills to produce new knowledge on global, regional and subregional integration processes.
  • Prepare trained personnel so that from the field of teaching they become disseminators of knowledge about the relevance of integration processes.
  • Prepare human resources with skills to join the different areas of the labor market where decisions are made related to the integration processes that link local and regional economies with the global economy.

Egress Profile

The graduate of this master's program will obtain the knowledge, methodologies, skills and attitudes necessary to develop basic and / or applied research in the lines of macroeconomic dynamics and economic integration processes; Processes of comparative economic integration, productive restructuring and regional development, and global changes, territorial systems, local production processes and sustainable development, according to the selected research line.

Upon completion of the Program, the graduate will have knowledge and skills to:

  • Design and carry out basic and / or applied research projects in specific areas of economic integration phenomena: regional macroeconomics, comparative analysis of economic integration, productive restructuring and regional development, territorial systems, local production process and sustainable development.
  • Evaluate and design public policies as alternative solutions to problems related to processes of international, regional, national and / or local integration.
  • Collaborate with professionals from other disciplines in teams of interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research projects applying communication strategies and proposing practical solutions.
  • Participate in the development of methodological proposals with conceptual tools that allow you to sustain valid scientific arguments
  • Publish scientific articles, popular articles and book chapters.
  • Teaching in theoretical and practical subjects of the field of study of economic integration.

How to enter this postgraduate course?

Entry requirements

  • Admission request.
  • Birth certificate original and copy).
  • Unique Code of Population Registration (CURP) for Mexicans; and for foreigners, corresponding student migratory form (copy).
  • Voter's credential (both sides); passport for foreigners (copy).
  • Bachelor's degree in Economics, or a related discipline that the academic committee, after studying each case, considers as equivalent (copy).
  • Kardex and bachelor's degree certificate (copy).
  • Curriculum vitae.
  • Have completed the degree with a minimum average of eighty (80).
  • Pass CENEVAL selection exam (EXANI-III).
  • Accredit English language, with at least 400 points of the TOEFL exam.
  • Proposed research essay, of a maximum of 5 pages in which a subject related to one of the research lines of the Postgraduate in Economic Integration is developed. The ability to write the candidate will also be assessed in the essay.
  • Letter of explanation of reasons explaining why you want to enter the master's degree.
  • Interview in the terms indicated by the Academic Commission of the Postgraduate
  • Two letters of academic recommendation in the form that appears in www.integracioneconomica
  • Receive approval of academic sufficiency, awarded by the Graduate Academic Committee.

Admission profile

The candidate to study in this Program must have the basic knowledge and the minimum previous experience necessary to continue his training with a profile of a researcher in economic and social sciences. Consequently, he must be a graduate in economics or some other related career in social sciences or engineering, and must demonstrate in all cases that he possesses the basic knowledge required in economic theory, economic history, economic geography, international trade, regional development, international relations, mathematics and basic statistics, as well as a clear management of reading and understanding of the English language.

Qualification requirements

To obtain a master's degree, you must:

  • Approve the total of credits and meet the other requirements established in the graduate program (Master's Degree in Economic Integration).
  • Proof of understanding a language other than Spanish, as established by the Academic Committee of the Postgraduate Program according to the study program.
  • Pass the examination of grade in the written phase and in the oral phase before a jury named ex profeso.
  • Comply with the provisions and requirements demanded by the School Services Office for the issuance of the degree.

Titration options

Pass grade exam in the written and oral phase; The written phase will consist of an individual thesis, in which a coherent overall research effort will be shown, following a scientific methodology.

The registration cost of applicants to enter the Universidad de Sonora is announced annually along with the first entry notice.

Registration and tuition fees

Students, when enrolling in any of the graduate programs, must cover the corresponding fees according to the current minimum wage in the city of Hermosillo, as established in the Quotas Regulation.
