About

The Master's Degree in Creative Writing is aimed at university graduates from diverse academic and geographic fields to offer them the possibility to delve into the dimensions of creative writing, both in its traditional and innovative profiles (facilitated by ICT), and to start in the research methodologies on writing processes (composition, discourse styles, etc.).

Improving linguistic, pragmatic and cultural competence is the best way to develop your creative abilities. To do this, this Master offers students the theoretical, conceptual, methodological contents essential for the practice of professions that require linguistic manipulation and content (teaching or informational) or that are oriented to the exercise of creative writing in literature. and journalism in various formats and supports.

The teachings of the Master's Degree in Creative Writing are taught from the theoretical foundations and the consistent practice of literary writing in all genres, with the convenient tutelage of teachers and professionals, so that the future writer finds the linguistic and stylistic skills that he needs for all the reading and communication media available today.

The Master's Degree in Creative Writing, located in the Faculty of Information Sciences, is carried out in collaboration with the Faculty of Philology of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid . The participation of the different University Departments of both Faculties has reason to be according to programmatic coherence in the training of students.

The objectives of the Master's Degree in Creative Writing are:

  • Ensure the linguistic competence of the students in relation to the creative possibilities of the language.
  • Facilitate advanced knowledge of discursive and stylistic structures and typologies.
  • Train the student to artistically evaluate literary creation and assimilate literary models.
  • Show the necessary skills to the profession of writer and editor, and establish the link between them.
  • Provide the student with the knowledge of research techniques in the different fields and genres of creative writing: editing, analysis, criticism, translation, adaptation, etc.
  • Encourage artistic imagination and enhance creativity through the development of projects and compositions.

Admission requirements for masters

Non-enabling university masters

  • Be in possession of any of the following titles:
    • Spanish official university degree .
    • Title issued by an institution of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) and empowering in the country of issue for access to Master's education.
    • Title of educational systems outside the EHEA that empowers in the country of issuance for access to Master's education, homologated or declared equivalent to the degree and academic level of Degree or Degree by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training . In case of lacking the mentioned homologation or equivalency, it will be necessary to have authorization or access permission granted by this University.
  • Or be carrying out during the course in which you pre-enroll studies leading to the obtaining of any of the previous degrees and be in a position to prove the obtaining of the same before September 30, 2020 .
  • In addition, students from foreign educational systems, whose mother tongue is different from Spanish, must prove level B2 of the Spanish language (or higher) .
