Introduction
The inter-university master's degree provides advanced training aimed at preparing students for teaching and research in Contemporary History, transmitting theoretical, methodological, heuristic and thematic pluralism of historiography and carrying out a reflection exercise on the construction of the discipline.
With a broad participation of universities, this master's degree aims to provide advanced training in contemporary history oriented towards teaching and research that makes it an authentic highly-qualified "school of historians". The master must transmit to the students the theoretical, methodological, heuristic and thematic pluralism of historiography, carrying out an exercise of permanent reflection on the construction of this discipline.
It is an inter-university master's degree with the universities of Cantabria, the Autonomous University of Barcelona, the Autonomous University of Madrid, the Complutense University of Madrid, the Menéndez Pelayo International University, the Basque Country/Euskal Herriko Unibertsitatea, Valencia and Zaragoza.
Curriculum
The Master is organized with the following structure:
- Research lines (10 compulsory credits)
- Contemporary History Topics (30 elective credits and 7 subjects)
- Master's Thesis (20 compulsory credits)
It is offered in the morning or afternoon to make it compatible with work life.
Master's students can apply for a percentage of specific scholarships and aid from the Menéndez Pelayo University (UIMP) to attend this course in Santander, which usually takes place in the first week of July. In the unique environment that constitutes the Palacio de la Magdalena, the teachings of module I are completed - after the subject of Network Teaching - in a summer school attended by all the students of this master's degree at its different locations.
Program Outcome
As a higher academic and research training project, the master's degree must transmit to students the theoretical, methodological, heuristic and thematic pluralism of historiography, carrying out an exercise of permanent reflection on the construction of the discipline.
