Within the framework of the strategic ISCSP-UTL as the training offer of Cycle II and following the objectives set at the political level objectives for higher education under the Bologna Process, the following objectives were defined:
As for the degree in Political Science, this objective corresponds to the nuclear configuration of the Bologna Process, as elects the passage of an educational paradigm based on the transmission of knowledge to a paradigm based on the acquisition of skills that, in the case of the second cycle, They must be strengthened in order to ensure that the student acquires an academic specialization (Article 18 of Decree-Law 74/2006).
This objective presided over the drafting of the new syllabus, since its structure favors the deepening of skills that consolidate those of instrumental training profiles and, above all, of a specific nature.
Bet on functional specialization
This objective reflects the need to strengthen the profile of the training of a specific nature (raising requirement and rigor of the standards) in order to guide the student for academic specialization pathways that allow a better field of theoretical and practical tools needed to implement and integrate knowledge in specific fields of political science with high levels of professional requirement.
Strengthening research valences
The curriculum assumes as basic orientation, the focus on strengthening the student's research of skills. In addition to constitute itself as a differentiating valence in relation to the I cycle of studies is intended primarily to provide students with theoretical perspectives, analytical and advanced methodologies which support the design and implementation of research projects, whether in the academic domain either in the professional domain.
Stimulus strengthening and support for self-learning
It is intended, to that end, strengthen self-learning journeys starting from the First Cycle, in order to encourage students to develop self-employment cognitive and evaluative level.
Adjustment of teaching methods
This objective is associated directly to change the educational paradigm (as equated to a degree in Political Science), which requires a renewed commitment of the faculty in the adjustment of teaching methods to that paradigm and objectives now defined.
Preparation for advanced studies
- This objective is part of the need to complement and strengthen the scientific preparation of students to prepare them for the journey of Advanced Studies (PhD).
- Bet on functional specialization
- They are admitted to enrollment in the course holders of a degree or legal equivalence;
- Holders of a scientific or professional curriculum recognized by the Scientific Council.
