The construction sector is moving towards a new conceptual framework that demands new technological, social, economic and environmental requirements and capacities. Construction is linked to new concepts such as innovation, sustainability, rehabilitation and maintenance, and new technologies applied to architectural and urban design and construction, industrialization and efficiency in managing the entire process.

This master's degree aims to train professionals in these new methodologies that are relevant today and are manifested as one of the innovation sectors in the field of construction management in the coming years: information models in construction - BIM (Building Information Modeling), integrated management systems, environmental management systems, quality management systems, risk identification and assessment, social-environmental responsibility of the construction company, control of construction management in Time, cost and time, analysis and diagnosis in the rehabilitation of buildings, innovative constructive technologies in the rehabilitation of buildings, technical inspection and auditing and energy certification of buildings, as well as innovation processes and new trends in the sector of the construction.

This master's degree proposes the training of professionals in these new methodologies that are of topical relevance and are manifested as one of the innovation sectors in the field of construction management in the coming years.

Entry and exit profile

Admission Profile

Students who intend to enter must have a technical profile with knowledge in construction systems. The admission profile recommended to the Master is in line with those of the graduates of Technical Architecture, Architecture, Engineering Degree, Technical Architecture and Architecture degrees. These students have prior training level required for access to the Master, not conducting additional training being required.

For other related qualifications, in the field of civil engineering, industrial engineering and agricultural and rural engineering, the Academic Commission will study each application individually and may, if necessary, require the completion of training courses that ensure that they are in possession of the Minimum Construction knowledge required to follow the Master's studies with proficiency. These complements would not be part of the masters structure.

The graduates of this master's degree will be able to develop, among others, the following professional roles

  • Director / Consultant of projects of implantation of information models in the construction - BIM (Building Information Modeling).
  • Leader of projects and equipment in the construction sector, incorporating innovation processes in companies, with the ability to detect new trends. Apply new methodologies applied management and technological innovation in construction.
  • Project Director / Consultant, in areas such as integrated management systems, environmental management systems, quality management systems, identification and evaluation of risks, social-environmental responsibility of the construction company and control of construction management in terms, time and cost.
  • Director / Consultant of projects in the field of rehabilitation in the field, in areas such as analysis and diagnosis in the rehabilitation of buildings, innovative building technologies in the rehabilitation of buildings
  • Responsible for energy audits and technical inspections of buildings.

GOALS

This master's degree proposes to train professionals in new methodologies applied management and technological innovation in construction on topics such as:

  • Integral Management of Construction, in areas such as integrated management systems, environmental management systems, quality management systems, identification and evaluation of risks, social-environmental responsibility of the construction company and the Control of construction management in terms, time and cost.
  • The Rehabilitation in the Building, in matters such as the analysis and diagnosis in the rehabilitation of buildings, the innovative constructive technologies in the rehabilitation of buildings, the technical inspection and audit and energy certification of buildings
  • Information models in construction - BIM (Building Information Modeling) and innovation processes and new trends in the construction sector.

Orientation and tutoring

The Master will have an Orientation Plan for all its students, which includes the following activities:

  • Reception Days: Its objective is to inform new Master students about the most relevant academic aspects of the studies they are going to start. The Academic Director of the Master is responsible for them and the first day of class will be held.
  • Teacher-Tutor Program: It consists of the assignment of a Teacher-Tutor to each student of the Master. The student must commit to attend, at least, the meetings scheduled with their tutor and to evaluate the program once the course is finished. The functions of the Program are to identify difficulties that are presented to them in the studies and to analyze the possible solutions, to guide in the decision making and in the choice of their curricular itinerary, to encourage the use of academic tutoring, to develop the capacity for reflection, dialogue and autonomy and support and guide the student in their integral training process
  • Web page of the Master: The Academic Committee of the Master is responsible for ensuring the updating of the Master's website; In it, students can find all the relevant information.
  • Orientation in the Master: Consists in the creation of a virtual classroom within the Virtual Campus of the ULL where only students enrolled in any of the subjects of each Master are included as participants. The objectives are to have a private space to put specific information of each Master, offer students the possibility of communicating with each other or establish debates on topics of interest through the forums. In addition, it will be used as an informative, guidance and participatory platform for students in all aspects related to their particular training program and the university community in general.

External practices

This master does not contemplate the performance of external practices.

Master's thesis

It will consist of the development of a work done individually or in a group, under the supervision of one or several tutors, through which students must demonstrate the acquisition of competences associated with the Master. The TFM may be an experimental or theoretical work, related to the Master that may be developed in companies, institutions and centers and departments of the University of La Laguna or other Universities.

The TFM will culminate with the realization of a Memory and a presentation and public defense of it.
