The study programme Quantitative Finance (MSQF), which is taught in English, offers analytical and quantitative training that is closely linked to the PhD programmes offered by the Graduate School of Economics, Finance, and Management. Students can choose from four study areas:
- Quantitative Economics
- Quantitative Finance
- Quantitative Management
- Quantitative Marketing
In each of the study areas, students learn how to examine major economic questions and achieve scientifically based results using the concepts and methods they have acquired. Graduates of the MSQE programme can either continue their research with a dissertation in one of the PhD programmes of the Graduate School of Economics, Finance, and Management or start a challenging career in the field of economic policy, or the financial or marketing sector.
The aim of the programme is for students to acquire the necessary analytical and quantitative skills and knowledge for demanding careers in top positions in the field of economics. Students are also prepared to start a PhD with a goal to take up an academic career. The content is taught at the highest academic level using the latest concepts and methods. The teaching concept combines intensive tutoring with independent academic work and possibilities for contact with the economic practice.
- Bachelor’s degree in economics or a quantitative based Bachelor's degree or a German or international degree in the same or related subject that is recognized as equivalent;
- Proof of mathematical/quantitative knowledge (GRE General Test or GMAT for Finance, Management, and Marketing tracks);
- a letter of motivation
- 2 letters of recommendation by professors or other qualified staff;
- Proof of English language skills by TOEFL test (minimum score of 93 or 580 points) or IELTS test (minimum score of 7.0).
Selection is carried out in accordance with a standardised procedure determined by the examination office. This procedure takes into account the final grade, the mathematical/quantitative knowledge, the motivation and recommendation letters.
