Program Description

To be accepted into the master’s programme in Molecular Bioscience, you need to complete a relevant bachelor programme.

In the master’s programme in Molecular Bioscience, you will learn about cell reactions, proteins and their functions and the genes of organisms. These are central areas in the research of both cancer, diabetes and infectious diseases. The department researchers collaborate with some of the largest biotech and pharmaceutical companies, and the programme gives you the opportunity to combine academical challenges with fighting disease.

Research in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology


The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at University of Southern Denmark focuses its research on:

  • The construction and organisation of genes
  • Regulation of gene activity
  • How gene information is translated into protein through RNA

Here the research is cutting-edge, and as a student, you get to be present where scientific advances are made.

Language entry requirements


A good standard of English is required because teaching at the University involves student participation, class discussion, project work and student presentations.

Entry requirements

Students with bachelor's degrees from countries in the European Union or Switzerland

  • Students with a bachelor's degree or other degree based on at least three years of higher education after the high school level with good grades.
  • Qualifications in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or Cell Biology corresponding to a bachelor's degree in the field of Molecular Biosciences from a well-respected institution.

Only students with the prerequisite qualifications can be accepted; it is not possible for students without a command of the Danish language to take supplementary courses to bring them up to the required level for graduate study.


Students with bachelor's degrees from countries outside Switzerland or the European Union

  • Students with a bachelor's degree (or other degree based on at least three years of higher education after the high school level) with good grades.
  • Qualifications in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or Cell Biology corresponding to a bachelor's degree in the field of Molecular Biosciences from a well-respected institution.
  • Satisfactory results from the Graduate Record Examination in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology or Cell Biology
