The M.Sc. in Molecular Biotechnology is a research-based study programme focused on White Biotechnology. Theoretical knowledge of chemical and biological processes (from molecular biology, genetics, microbiology, biochemistry, chemistry and analytics) will be put into practice on a molecular level and a technological basis will be established for the targeted production of biologically active molecules and production/synthesis processes that create scientific and economic added value.
Detailed insights into the function of biological macromolecules enable the development of innovative products and processes including tailor-made enzymes as well as new biomolecule-based methods of analysis, or drugs.
Prerequisite for the programme is a Bachelor of Science (or equivalent degree) in biotechnology, biosciences or similar disciplines with a focus on molecular biology or biochemical methods.
- Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree in a bio-scientific study programme with a maximum of 30 missing credit points (CP) allowed
- letter of motivation
- Applicants with an international university entrance qualification and Bachelor's degree must prove sufficient German language skills according to the regulations of the Deutsche Sprachprüfung für den Hochschulzugang (DSH), the German language test for university entrance.
Provisional admission is possible if the Bachelor’s programme has not yet been completed; this requires a transcript of records stating at least 80% of the required for the bachelor's degree CP (normally 144 credit points).
Mode of admission
Admission to the programme is restricted.
