Master in Economics and Business Administration - Marketing and Innovation (MSc)

Do you want to be able to spot and take advantage of market opportunities? Due to increasing internationalization and globalization, businesses need managers who understand how to take on leadership to ensure competitive advantage in global markets and specialists who can develop knowledge about customers and the competitive situation. This program gives you the know-how skills that enable you to become such a manager.

The competencies learned during the program in Marketing and Innovation can be used to spot and take advantage of opportunities in the market. You can use the competencies when participating in innovation projects and to create marketing plans for existing products. The program builds on qualifications in organization and marketing acquired at bachelor level combined with courses in quantitative and qualitative research. The courses are a mix of courses giving qualifications to be used in the long run and courses giving you tools that you can use in your first job. The course in project management is an example of such a course.

The courses use a combination of project work, group work, and lectures.

Program structure

Master of Science in Economics and Business Administration requires two years of full-time study, each year consisting of four quarters. The profile Marketing and Innovation consists of 60 ECTS compulsory courses of 7.5 ECST each, 30 ECTS that are electives, and a thesis work corresponding to 30 ECTS. There are 8 compulsory courses. These are offered in the first four quarters. The electives are typically placed in the fifth and sixth quarters. Electives can be taken at campus Esbjerg or abroad or take forms as an internship. The thesis is to be written during the seventh and eighth quarters. The profile is offered in Esbjerg.

Career opportunities

Masters of Science in Economics and Business Administration work within practically all administrative areas as for example accounting and controlling, IT, marketing and sales management, planning, HRM and organizational planning. MScs from the University of Southern Denmark are in general able to find relevant and attractive jobs after they graduate.

There is of course a relationship between the job that graduates get and the courses which they have taken on the profile they have studied. Many of the MScs are employed in specialist functions while others, especially as they gain experience, are take on jobs that include not only management but also leadership.
