Our MS in Finance program provides unique advanced business education. This program is 36 semester hours, non-thesis, and offers you the opportunity to master the specialization of your choice. Through a combination of core courses, electives, and leadership development opportunities, your MS program develops and deepens the competencies needed for your career.

The program equips finance professionals to manage assets and liabilities on a day-to-day basis; make sound decisions such as selecting investments or determining appropriate cash balances; manage currency risks and other financial aspects involved in the international business; operate in a global economy.


The curriculum consists of 12 courses: five core courses, three FINC electives, and four free electives (subject to approval by advisor).

Core Courses:

The following five courses are required of all students

  • FINC 629 - Financial Management I
  • FINC 630 - Financial Management II
  • FINC 632 - Investment Management
  • FINC 642 - Analysis of Money and Capital Markets
  • FINC 645 - International Finance


All students must take at least three of the following courses:

  • FINC 643 - Commercial Bank Management
  • FINC 647 - Financial Statement AnalysisFINC 661 - Trading Risk Management
  • FINC 664 - Portfolio Management
  • FINC 665 - Speculative Markets
  • FINC 666 - Wall Street, Investment Banking, and Financial Markets (application only)
  • FINC 668 - Tanner Fund Portfolio Management (application only)
