Program Outcome
Learning outcomes
In a historical and cultural moment in which the process of European integration requires high-profile professionals, open to the supranational dimension and an increasingly globalized economic-legal context, the master's degree course in European Studies aims to train graduates with solid advanced level knowledge, on a methodological, cultural and professional level, which allows them to develop solutions, even original ones, about emerging problems in the new European and international scenario. The Master's Degree Course in European Studies has been designed to meet the demands of those students who are interested in a training course on advanced topics of European studies and who wish to undertake a career in international and supranational institutions, but also in Italian bodies that, in the public, private and non-profit sectors, operate transnationally at an international level. Particular attention will be paid to understanding the legal issues that present comparative, European, and international profiles, as well as the economic implications of national and international policy choices. The Course intends to train graduates capable of operating with interdisciplinary skills in the legal-economic field of the management of European institutions (and international ones in a broader sense), taking care to provide specialist, economic, legal, political, and historical elements. In this context, the fundamental tools and interpretative models will be provided for the knowledge of the European institutional systems and the related reference environments, for a more mature understanding of the behavior of the institutional actors within the European Union, of the management and control of political and regulatory processes, also following the most recent institutional and jurisprudential innovations. Of particular relevance will be the case study of jurisprudential and contractual practice transversal to all the subjects of the course. The Course also intends to train the figure of the European jurist by providing the necessary knowledge in all the main disciplines of private, public, European, and international law, in of comparison with other systems, taking into account the repercussions and economic effects of international architectures and institutions. The specific objective is the transmission of skills suitable for understanding and resolving issues that simultaneously affect different systems (national law, that of the European Union, the international one, as well as foreign systems), in key sectors of social experience (trade, competition, environment, immigration, fundamental rights, globalization and religious phenomena in international contexts, etc.). The training course of the master's degree course is divided into two years and includes two curricula which aim to provide knowledge relating to the main topics of the characterizing activities and in-depth analysis relating to related subjects, to guarantee adequate preparation for possible opportunities in the world of Work. The first year aims to provide knowledge relating to all aspects of the characterizing activities. Both curricula maintain a European economic and comparative legal framework, differing, mainly, in the more economic and law economics slant of one of the two curricula. The second year is intended for the in-depth study of problems linked to more specific aspects of the individual legal disciplines or economics, enhancing, through elective courses, the possibility of building integrated and differentiated paths. At the end of the second year, students are encouraged to undertake an internship in institutions to gain practical experience.
