Introduction
The Master in Economics and International Policies (MEPIN) is offered by the Faculty of Economics of Università della Svizzera italiana, USI, based in Lugano, in collaboration with Alta Scuola di Economia e Relazioni Internazionali (ASERI) of Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, based in Milan. The full-time study programme comprises 120 ECTS for a usual duration of 4 semesters and gives the possibility of obtaining a double degree, i.e:
- a Swiss Master's degree awarded by USI (Laurea magistrale under Swiss law);
- a first-level university Master's degree issued by the ASERI of the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore of Milan under Italian legislation.
In the new edition, more space has been given to economics and political science subjects and two courses in 'Methodology of Social Research' have been introduced. The MEPIN offers a wide range of scientific tools and specific skills that are indispensable for understanding the economic and political phenomena linked to globalisation and the functioning of public and international institutions. The proposed Master's programme develops its curriculum around the interdisciplinary study of economics, finance, law, international institutions and international politics. It will also provide multidisciplinary and managerial knowledge necessary to address issues such as sustainable development, economic and financial ethics and, more generally, forms of cooperation between public authorities and private economic operators aimed at achieving a common objective, such as the provision of a service or the creation and management of a project.

Curriculum
Structure and content
The Master in Economics and International Policies (MEPIN) offers a wide range of scientific tools and specific skills, essential for the understanding of economic-political phenomena related to globalization and the functioning of public and international institutions.
The basis on which the entire program is developed is linked to the study of economics, law and institutions, and international policies. We will also provide multidisciplinary and managerial knowledge necessary to address issues such as sustainable development, globalization of markets, population aging, migration phenomena, and, more generally, forms of cooperation between public authorities and private economic operators aimed at the achievement of a common goal, such as the provision of a service or the creation and management of a project.
The study of the areas of intersection between public and private, from the local to the global level, requires skills both in the economic-financial sector and in the public policy sector, as well as the knowledge of the regulatory legal and communication aspects relating to the relationships between the parties. Participants are offered a series of courses on the Lugano campus and Milan campus. The program is completed with the development of a thesis and an internship in a national or international institution. The multi-faceted and interdisciplinary training offered by MEPIN has enabled its graduates to enter quickly and successfully into multinational companies, banks and finance companies, local authorities, non-governmental organizations, teaching, and research institutes. The graduates of this Master's degree possess both multidisciplinary skills and specific knowledge, particularly in economics and political science, which allow them to work in all those sectors in which public and private cooperate.
