Program Description

The Cox MSA is a 32 credit hour program* that may be pursued full-time or part-time. Students pursuing the MSA degree on a full-time basis can expect to complete the degree in two semesters. Students pursuing the MSA degree on a part-time basis can expect to complete the degree in four semesters.


MSA Curriculum Overview

The curriculum of the Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) Program at Cox is designed to provide students with a more in-depth examination of critical accounting, tax, and financial issues. Students will take a total of 32 credit hours. Half of these hours are chosen as electives from the graduate offering of SMU Cox.


Prerequisite Requirements

Applicants must demonstrate proficiencies in the following areas as demonstrated by satisfactory completion of the following courses, or course equivalents:

Introduction to Accounting (I & II) 6 credit hours
Intermediate Accounting (I & II) 6 credit hours
Tax Accounting 3 credit hours
Cost Accounting 3 credit hours
