The Master of Science in Accountancy & Control is an intensive, selective programme, ensuring a high standard of academic education. It has a strong international focus with respect to content, academic staff and student population. The programme is designed to prepare students for financial positions, not only in auditing and consultancy, but also in industry, banking or government. The programme consists of an Accountancy track and a Control track.
The Accountancy track is intended for students of business economics seeking a career in the financial sector. It is designed for students with a general and analytical interest in financial information flows between and within organisations and, more specifically, in providing information services to senior managers and other stakeholders. This track combines academic rigour with practical examples and applications, and provides admission to the post-Master Accountancy (PMA) programme offered by the Amsterdam Business School (in Dutch only), leading to qualification as a chartered accountant.
The Master in Accountancy & Control is a one-year programme of 60 ECTS credits (1 ECTS credit = 0,5 US credit). The course schedule is listed below. The Master's thesis is the final requirement to be completed prior to graduation. The thesis is supervised by one of the research staff members. The Research Seminar Accountancy and Control prepares students for writing their thesis and provide guidance to enable the completion of the Master's thesis.
