Become a leader in strategic media production by developing your production skills and exploring the global environment.

From basic production skills to sophisticated cross-media projects and strategic thinking about media industries, this 2-year program offers a variety of entry points depending on your previous qualifications and experience.

In the first (graduate diploma) year, you will be introduced to video, audio and internet media production. In the second year, you will explore complex cross-media projects and develop the sophisticated strategic and leadership skills required to be at the forefront of this evolving industry.

You’ll gain practical industry experience and learn about strategic planning through hands-on projects. This program has a global focus and you’ll have the opportunity to undertake various research projects. Due to the program’s online teaching component, you will even have the opportunity to complete your study from an international location.

Program features

Through collaborative practice you will develop the knowledge, technical skills and experience needed to build a career in the increasingly integrated media industries, from traditional video and audio production to networked media channels.

This program is designed to meet the industry's need for graduates who are knowledgeable and skilled in:

The program covers traditional film and television, as well as cross-media production, online media developments and emerging global media practices and trends.

You will work independently and in production teams and confidently communicate complex and innovative ideas to allied professionals such as designers and programmers. This program has a strong focus on strategic planning to allow you to implement your practical skills and knowledge.

The Master consists of 144 credit points. This incorporates the Graduate Diploma (96 credit points).

Entry requirements

Completion of an Australian bachelor degree or equivalent in any discipline.

English language requirements:

To study this program you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:

  • Academic IELTS (minimum scores) overall band of 6.5 with no individual band below 6.0
  • TOEFL (Paper-based): minimum score of 580 (with a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 4.5)
  • TOEFL (Internet-based): minimum score of 92 with a minimum of 20 in each section
  • Cambridge English (Advanced CAE): CAE Grade B
  • Pearson: Minimum score of 58 (no band less than 50).
