The MMIS program at the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business is an innovative, project-based program designed to address business problems through the use of technology. It carries a STEM designation (29-month work option after graduation) in database management and analytics, consistently attracting many talented students from around the world.
Extensive Database and Data Analytics
The main focus of the MMIS program relates to Big Data, Database Management, and Data Analytics. Gaining insight into business processes that facilitate improved decision making is the goal of all things data. Indeed, data is the lifeblood of improved decision making for businesses.
High Job Placement and High Salaries
There is currently a shortage of employees with technical management information systems skills in the workplace. Recent graduates have nearly a 100% placement rate 6 months after graduation, with a mean salary of $60,000.
As technology spreads across every organizational sector, corporate jobs in this field are generated rapidly. Our 33-credit hour program is designed to enhance your undergraduate education by increasing your analytical proficiencies and business technology skills and strategically preparing you for management positions.
This degree is available as a single degree (MMIS) or can be paired with a second master’s degree (MBA/MMIS or MHR/MMIS) by enrolling in one additional year.
The MMIS curriculum was developed with two strategic goals:
- Provide students with analytical-focused information systems knowledge and a complementary business acumen to enhance corporate leadership and problem solving.
- Support the Huntsman four pillars of excellence – Ethical Leadership, Global Vision, Analytical Rigor and Entrepreneurial Spirit.
MMIS focuses on technology's role in managing and making sense of the ever‐increasing amount of data flowing into organizations. Today's managers must effectively utilize this data to improve decision making and company performance.
