Program Description

Taught in English by specialists in the field, this programme combines the study of English linguistics with that of literature in English.

Program Content

The programme offers a range of courses to choose from in the fields of both linguistics and literary studies. There is only one requirement: you must take at least one linguistics course and one literature course. The Master’s thesis constitutes an important part of the degree and is worth 18 of the 60 ECTS credits. Literature topics include British women writers, the American historical novel after 1950, the construction of age, and the work of James Joyce and Samuel Beckett. Linguistics courses focus on the use of English in different contexts (including academic/professional ones), how it varies across time and space, and the changes this tends to trigger.

A Digital Humanities Summer School and a Children’s Literature Summer School can be taken for credit.
