Program Description

Materials are everywhere! The technology revolution of the 21st century is predicated upon new materials. The MSE program at UMD offers more than 40 graduate courses in order to assist in the intellectual development of our graduate students.

Admission Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree, GPA of 3.0 or better, in engineering, computer science, physics, applied mathematics, physical science, or a closely related discipline or a closely related discipline from an accredited institution
  • Completion of calculus I, II, and III, thermodynamics, solid state physics, and kinetics
  • Completed applications are reviewed and considered for admission on a case-by-case basis.
