OBJECTIVES

The Master of Economics in Quantitative Economics is a 2-year full-time English-taught program offered by WISE at Xiamen University, the most beautiful university in China.

It is designed to provide rigorous training in quantitative analysis for applications in economics and finance, after laying down a solid foundation in economic theory. Taking advantage of her excellent research group on theoretical and applied econometrics, WISE is able to offer the most extensive ranges of courses in econometrics in China. This program is ideal for highly motivated students who want to pursue PhD study in an academic institution, or aim at business or government research group in China or around the world.


PROGRAM DURATION:
 2 years full-time study

TEACHING LANGUAGE: English

PROGRAM COMMENCEMENT: Fall semester

TUITION FEES: 72000RMB in total (for two years)

APPLICATION FEE: 400 RMB

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

  • Hold a non-Chinese passport and pass the required health check for visa holders in China.
  • Hold a recognized bachelors degree or above, or equivalent.
  • Have obtained a minimum score of 550 points or above for Old TOEFL, 80 points or above for New TOEFL, grade 6.0 or above for IELTS, or on presentation of a certificate from some other approved test of English proficiency. Native English speakers and applicants whose teaching language during undergraduate studies is English are exempt from this requirement. Other candidates whose university courses were taught in English will be considered on a case by case basis.
  • The ability to demonstrate relevant professional experience will be given individual consideration.

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

The award of the master’s degree requires a total of at least 34 credits and a successful thesis oral defense. Credits are collected from courses and seminars:
