Master of Culture and Arts - Design
Higher University of Applied Sciences Degree in Design
The scope of the degree programme is 60 cr, of which 30 cr is for the development project thesis. The studies last approximately 1.5 years.
The language of instruction is English.
The studies will begin in autumn 2012, 18 student places.
The degree programme is designated for students having a BA degree either in industrial design, technology, business, interior architecture or another applicable academic degree together with a minimum of three years working life experience after completing their BA degree.
This programme is designated to professionals working within design intensive fields of business and provides for innovation management and design leadership tools for a variety of design disciplines.
Studies focusing on e.g. innovation strategies, design thinking, or leadership will follow an individually tailored curriculum, conducted in a multidisciplinary, project-oriented learning environment.
Multi-method studies consisting of lectures and seminars as well as team working and e-learning tasks preparing for the business-oriented master´s thesis development project will provide graduates with a diverse methodology toolkit. Project works are planned and conducted under the supervision of KyUAS staff in constant collaboration between students and their partner enterprises/employers.
Studies begin in August 2012 and are scheduled to last 18 months at the minimum. Contact sessions –once a month on average-take always place in consecutive Friday afternoons and Saturdays in Kouvola. Master´s degree from a university of applied sciences produces competency for public offices and tasks equal to a higher academic degree.

Applicants for this programme should apply directly to Kymenlaakso University of Applied Sciences.
Application form, copies of your school certificates and testimonials are to be returned to the Admissions Office. Applicants who have acceptably completed all the requirements will be invited to the entrance examination. The entrance examinations will be held on 22 May 2012 in Kouvola, Finland. Applicant's portfolio will be checked in the entrance examination.
There is a tuition fee for students outside EU/ETA countries who do not have a permanent residency in Finland. Scholarships covering full or half of the tuition fee available for a limited number of outstanding candidates.
