Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary & College

The Master of Christian Ministry (MCMin) degree program is designed to prepare graduates for competent Christian leadership in a wide variety of ministry callings. Foundational studies include Bible, theology, ministry skills and praxis.

Tracks within this degree program include:

  • Applied Ministry
  • Pastoral Leadership
  • Missions & Church Planting

Requirements

1. The prerequisite for this degree is a BA degree, or its equivalent, from an accredited college or university.

2. A total of 60 credit hours are required for the completion of the degree.

3. At least 30 credit hours must be completed on campus to provide regular and substantive student-faculty interaction to facilitate achieving the degree outcomes.

The Canadian Southern Baptist Seminary and College is recognized by the Province of Alberta, and the MA in Christian Ministry degree is accredited by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) and the Association for Biblical Higher Education (ABHE). This degree is a Designated Learning Program and eligible to receive foreign nationals on a study permit under the DLI number 019256741082.

MCMin - Applied Ministry Track

The (MCMin) Applied Ministry Track allows for the greatest degree of flexibility with one-fourth of credit hours designated as free electives, including the option of field-based internships.

Degree Outcomes

1. Graduates will have gained skills in studying and interpreting the Bible.

2. Graduates will demonstrate a general understanding of Christian theology and ethics.

3. Graduates will have gained skills in teaching and evangelism

4. Graduates will have gained understanding in spiritual growth and leadership.

5. Graduates will have gained skills in discipleship.

**Free electives may include 8 credit hours of optional internship experience beyond the 4 hours of required Capstone Ministry I & II, depending on availability of internship opportunities.

MCMin - Pastoral Leadership Track

The (MCMin) Pastoral Leadership Track is designed to give graduates a basic foundation for various roles in pastoral ministries. It is not the equivalent of the standard professional ministry degree but includes many of the same degree outcomes. It is well suited for those looking for basic pastoral training in a wide variety of settings but attainable in a shorter amount of time.

Degree Outcomes

1. Graduates will have gained skills in studying and interpreting the Bible.

2. Graduates will demonstrate a general understanding of Christian theology and ethics.

3. Graduates will have gained skills in teaching and evangelism

4. Graduates will have gained understanding in spiritual growth and leadership.

5. Graduates will have the ability to perform the basic functions of a pastor including proclamation and pastoral guidance.

MCMin - Missions & Church Planting Track

The (MCMin) Missions and Church Planting Track is designed to equip leaders for missional ministry in hard places. It is well suited for those who are preparing to serve as church planters or missionaries, especially but not exclusively in urban centers. This track allows for the option of a field-based internship.

1. Graduates have gained skills in studying and interpreting the Bible.

2. Graduates will demonstrate a general understanding of Christian theology and ethics.

3. Graduates will have gained skills in teaching and evangelism

4. Graduates will have gained understanding in spiritual growth and leadership.

5. Graduates will have gained an understanding of cross-cultural missions.

6. Graduates will have gained skills in implementing church planting strategies.

Application Deadlines

Fall Semester application deadlines are:

  • July 15th for Canadian Students
  • June 15th for US Students
  • March 1st for International Students.

We are happy to take conditional applications after the deadline but a late administration fee will apply.

Spring Semester application deadlines are:

  • November 15th Canadian and US Students
  • International Students are only admitted for the Fall

Tuition and Fees

Payment for all tuition and fees per semester is due by Friday prior to the start of classes.

A deferred payment option is available by application only to on-campus students, fully enrolled in a program at CSBS&C. A minimum payment of 25% of tuition & fees is required and a 5% payment plan fee will be collected at the point of application.

Online students, occasional students and first semester on-campus students are not eligible to apply for deferred payment.

Students will not be allowed to attend class if the above financial requirements are not met.

Students with unpaid balances at the end of a semester will not be permitted to write their final exams and grades will not be issued. In addition, these students cannot register for classes in the following semester.

Chronic financial problems may result in financial holds, suspension or expulsion of an offending student.
