The MA in Sociology at UTA provides students with advanced sociological substantive and research training in order to prepare them for careers in college/university teaching and research and in the private and public sectors.
About The Program
Sociology is a field of study offering a diversity of sub-fields and methods of study. At UTA we give attention to these many sub-fields, respect the different ways sociologists conduct research and offer students opportunities to apply what they learn. We offer a variety of graduate courses in areas such as research methods (both statistical and qualitative), theory, cultural studies, race and ethnicity, families, reproduction, religion, gender, work, education, and social psychology. The graduate program in sociology at UTA provides students with a firm substantive background that is appropriate preparation for those students for whom the MA is the final degree and for those who intend to pursue a Ph.D.

Admission Requirements
Admission to graduate programs at UTA is competitive. Each academic department sets its own admissions requirements and makes independent admission decisions. Visit your academic department's website for program-specific admission requirements.
International students are required to submit the English language proficiency test scores. UTA accepts TOEFL / IELTS and Duolingo scores. However, the English language test can be waived if you've completed a degree from a US institute or if your home institute was in English. GRE / GMAT is optional till 2023 based on the department. It is highly recommended that you contact your individual department regarding this before you apply.
For issuance of the I-20 form, you'll need to show financial support of 9 months or 12 months of the amount mentioned in your I-20.
