Message from Program Director
The Master of Arts in Social Innovation and Sustainability is a pioneering graduate program in the School of Global Studies dedicated to building a community of practitioners and researchers with the skills and mindset to address the most pressing sustainable development challenges in Thailand and the Asian region. The program is conducted at the Tha Prachan Campus in the historic riverside area of Bangkok near the Grand Palace.
While taking a wide range of courses, students hone their critical thinking, analytical, design thinking, communication, and research skills as the basis of developing impactful and purposeful careers in private and public organizations or social entrepreneurs. After taking foundational courses, students can choose between coursework and research tracks. Finally, they complete the program by completing a major independent study or thesis. The program will also be a stepping stone to do a Ph.D. in Social Innovation and Sustainability.
After launching in 2019, the program will welcome its fourth cohort of students in 2022. Within this short period, it has become a global program with instructors from the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, Austria, Bangladesh, India, Nepal, Armenia, and Thailand. Many of our instructors have a background working for international organizations such as the UNDP, UNESCAP, UNICEF, and the International Telecommunications Union. Others bring experience working on grassroots community projects and social enterprises. Our student and alumni community is also diverse, with students from Europe, North America, and various Asian countries. Some of them are recent graduates while others are seasoned professionals, but they all contribute to a dynamic, collaborative, and vibrant community that seeks to create an inclusive, just, and sustainable future.
