Program Description

Master of Arts in Pre- and Protohistoric Archaeology

Goethe University Frankfurt

Pre- and Protohistoric Archaeology investigates the remains of cultural expressions of pre-literate, non-literate and mostly non-literate (proto-historic) eras of human history which are accessible via archaeological methodology. The main focus in research and teaching of the Goethe University’s Department of Pre- and Protohistoric Archaeology lies on European and African Pre- and Protohistory and Archaeobotany.

The heavily research-oriented master's programme aims to empower students for independent research in the area of Pre-and Protohistoric Archaeology. For this purpose, the knowledge and skills acquired through the bachelor’s programme are expanded, deepened and professionalized with scientific objectives.
