Master of Arts (MA) in Leadership and Consulting

General

Program Description

Expertise and administrative management skills are the basis for successful and satisfying work as a manager or consultant. Yet that alone is not enough, because the most burdensome problems often do not lie in the professional, economic or technical, but in the interpersonal area. The way in which we react to others always has causes in our own personality and life history. This often leads to open or hidden conflicts in organizations, which lead to unfulfilled possibilities, decreased commitment, rises in sick days or project failures.

Social-psychological knowledge and competences are therefore of decisive importance for good leadership and counseling as well as for the further development of organizations. By contributing to a climate of trust, they promote personal development and prepare the ground for organizational growth.

This part-time Master's program is aimed at managers and consultants. It aims to provide you with socio-psychologically sound knowledge for sustainable leadership and consulting. To this end, you will take a psychodynamically oriented interdisciplinary perspective when studying, which builds on psychoanalysis and combines it with approaches in humanist and systemic psychology as well as economics and social sciences in order to enable modern leadership and counseling.

The course places great emphasis on the transfer of theory and practice. You will be able to reflect on your own practical experience and test new, scientifically based methods in a trusted setting.

You can use these competencies in numerous areas of application: in the design of leadership processes, personnel and team development, organizational development, change management, innovation management, and strategy planning, mediation and conflict management, moderation, management consulting, coaching as well as individual and group supervision.

„Anyone who wonders why and how organizations actually function and anyone who does not shy away from observing the underlying phenomena in their own self during the learning process is in the right place here. For me, the Leadership and Consulting course has made a major contribution to my personal and my personnel development.“
Dr. Heidrun Munker, School Developer

  • Opportunities for advancement and development: psychologically sound consulting and leadership skills are gaining in importance in all areas, yet are rarely taught as part of degree programs.
  • Strengthening one's own identity as a manager or consultant: gain sovereignty and confidence in the uncertain terrain of leading and consulting in different work contexts.
  • Recognized consultant training: the possibility of graduation as coach or supervisor, certified by the German Society for Supervision and Coaching (DGSv).
  • Top-level studies: all courses are led by renowned lecturers from academia and practice who are leaders in their respective fields.
  • Tailor-made studies: no abstract memorizing, but contents based on your own experiences.
  • Theory and practice transfer: in small select groups, your own experiences are seen in connection with psychological theory and new beginnings can be tried and tested.
  • Networking: The carefully selected study group creates a high-quality framework for the exchange of experience and personal development.

„I recommend the Master’s program in Organisational Studies because it combines the professional and personal development of students in an innovative and sustainable way.“

Prof. Dr. Dr. Rolf Haubl, Director of the Sigmund Freud Institute in Frankfurt, Professor of Sociology and Psychoanalysis at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt/Main.
