The University of Western Australia

The Master of Architecture (Design) is a program of independent, supervised research leading to the presentation of an exhibition of architectural design equivalent in scope to the schematic design of a building of major cultural significance.

Students in this course undertake a program of independent, supervised research. Assessment is on the basis of an exhibition of their work.

Starting dates

  • By agreement with their supervisors, students may commence at any time throughout the year, except December

Weekly contact time

  • Full-time students are expected to spend at least 30 hours per week on their research, throughout the year. Part-time students are expected to spend at least 15 hours a week on their research, throughout the year.

Admission Requirements

Qualifications equivalent to a Bachelor of Architecture with at least upper second class honors and sufficient architectural design experience to satisfy the School of Architecture, Landscape, and Visual Arts and the Graduate Research School that the applicant has sufficient expertise to complete the course

English competency

English is the language of instruction and assessment at UWA and you will need to meet the English language requirements of the University to be eligible for a place.
