Prepare yourself for statistical analysis in the business world. You'll gain complementary skills in analytics, and tap into statistics, operations research, business, economics, finance and marketing.

The high-growth field of analytics requires skilled analysts who can make data-driven decisions. This program will provide you a platform to become a key problem solver in business operations.

Learning and teaching

RMIT offers a variety of learning and teaching approaches including lectures, seminars, studios, workshops, presentations, group discussions and syndicate work. These are primarily in English.

You will have access to the Learning Hub and other online and digital resources through the myRMIT student portal.

Ongoing assessment throughout the semester includes examinations, essays, reports, oral classes, presentations, group projects, research projects, laboratory projects and practical assignments.

Program structure

The Master consists of 144 credit points. This incorporates the Graduate Diploma (96 credit points).

Classes are usually held once a week in the evening over a two hour period.

You'll complete core studies in statistics and operations research and can choose from a diverse range of electives.

Entry requirements

An Australian bachelor degree/graduate certificate/graduate diploma in a cognate discipline (analytics, statistics, operations research, economics, finance, marketing, information systems, computer science or a relevant discipline) with a GPA of at least 1.5 out of 4.0; or equivalent.

If you do not satisfy the above entrance requirements, you may still be eligible for entry into Master of Statistics and Operations Research. Master of Statistics and Operations Research has a very similar program structure to Master of Analytics with a large number of courses shared between the two programs.

International qualifications are assessed according to the Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF).

English language requirements

To study this program you will need to complete one of the following English proficiency tests:

  • Academic IELTS (minimum scores) overall band of 6.5 with no individual band below 6.0
  • TOEFL (Paper-based): minimum score of 580 (with a Test of Written English (TWE) score of 4.5)
  • TOEFL (Internet-based): minimum score of 92 with a minimum of 20 in each section
  • Cambridge English (Advanced CAE): CAE Grade B
  • Pearson: Minimum score of 58 (no band less than 50).
