Kaplan Business School

The Master of Accounting (MAcc) is a graduate conversion course designed especially for students who wish to enter the accounting profession but who have limited or no previous experience in accounting.

In the Master of Accounting course, you’ll develop your ability to think critically, in addition to the essential business and accounting skills potential employers expect in the workplace. You will study a range of subjects including, management and financial accounting, business and corporations law, financial reporting, corporate governance and regulatory processes, marketing management and professional communication.

SKILLS YOU’LL LEARN

  • 01. Demonstrate
    Demonstrate professional skills and knowledge in relation to contemporary accounting issues and related practices
  • 02. Analysis & Application
    Analyse contemporary accounting issues within a range of theories and frameworks. Apply strategic management and marketing techniques to a range of business situations.
  • 03. Accountant
    Be classified as an ‘accountant’ in accordance with the requirements of the Australian Standard Classification of Occupations (ASCO Code: 2211-11)
  • 04. Professionalism
    Be eligible for admission into the professional courses offered by the ACCA, CPA and CA ANZ.

POSSIBLE CAREER PATHS

Graduates are typically employed in taxation, financial advice, costing, investigative accounting, strategic management and management consulting. Many company directors and managers have graduated with accounting qualifications.

PATHWAY TO FURTHER STUDIES

Master of Accounting graduates are eligible for admission into professional programmes offered by the ACCA, CPA and CA ANZ. Graduates may also apply for credit entry into the Master of Business Administration or a related graduate degree at another Australian higher education provider.
