Master of Accountancy

About

The Department of Accounting boasts full accreditation by AACSB-The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The support of the business community is evidenced by our student job placement upon graduation and corporate membership in the Controllers Executive RoundTable. Placement efforts are supported by the "Big 4" firms, regional firms, and government and industry sectors.

500 and 600 level courses are offered in the evening either one evening per week from 7-9:40 pm or twice a week from 5:30-6:45 pm. All business courses, including accounting, are held in Snead Hall. The flexibility of our program allows students to enroll full-time or part-time, depending on their preference.

Curriculum

Students entering the Master of Accountancy program will follow one of these two curriculum paths:

Program for students who hold a bachelor's degree in accounting

The graduate degree requires completion of 10 graduate courses of which at least five must be graduate-level accounting courses.

Program for students who hold a bachelor's degree in an area other than accounting

Students who have completed a bachelor’s degree in a field of study other than accounting from an accredited institution may be admitted directly to the Master of Accountancy program, but are encouraged to complete the Post-Baccalaureate Undergraduate Certificate in Accounting first. Completing the certificate program prior to the Master of Accountancy allows the student to fulfill the required prerequisites for the MACC program prior to entry.

Students will need to complete any unfinished or unapproved required prerequisites upon entry to the Master of Accountancy graduate program.
