The UofL College of Business Master of Accountancy (MAC) program is a 34-credit hour program designed for individuals* planning to complete the CPA examination and begin their careers in public accounting. Earn your degree in just 13 months. *Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required.

The UofL School of Accountancy is one of only 187 accounting programs throughout the world that are separately accredited by AACSB International (The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business). Less than 2% of the accounting programs in the world achieve this separate accreditation.

Admission Requirements

It is recommended that your application be submitted within 30 days of creating your account, thereby providing you sufficient time to focus on the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT).

  • Create an application account: Apply at the School of Business' MAC website.
  • One letter of recommendation: Within the application, submit the name and email address of your recommender. They will receive an email invitation on your behalf. Your recommender should speak to your character, academic aptitude, etc.
  • Professional resume: Within the application, upload your resume.
  • Personal statement: Within the application, attach a 1–2 page Word document describing your interest in the University of Louisville MAC program, why you selected the University of Louisville, your short and long term goals and any additional information you feel is relevant.
  • Submit and pay the application fee
  • Official college transcript(s): Order an official college transcript from all colleges attended, including the degree-granting institution.
  • Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) Note: We will accept the GRE in lieu of the GMAT. GMAT Waivers can be considered for those with a 3.5 GPA or higher from an AACSB accredited institution.

  • International Applicants – Additional Requirements

    • WES or ECE formal transcript evaluation – if you studied outside of the United States, you are required to submit your academic records for a formal evaluation

    • TOEFL scores – score of 79 and higher on the internet-based test required; scores must be 2 years old or less at the time of application

      IELTS (International English Language Testing System) score of 6.5 or higher on the computer-based test. Scores must be less than 2 years old at the time of application

    • Financial Statement: You will be asked to demonstrate that you have adequate financial resources to support your educational and living expenses for the duration of your studies in the U.S. Every applicant must submit appropriate official financial documents
