Program description

General purpose

Ensure a space for professionalization, reflection and ongoing training in relation to the impact, design, implementation and evaluation related to the problem of social development, to contribute to the improvement of public policies and intervention programs.

Specific objectives

  • Provide students with the theoretical-methodological and technical-instrumental elements that allow them to:
  • Develop relevant social diagnoses in the institutional and community sphere. based on quantitative and qualitative procedures and methodologies developed by the social sciences.
  • Propose viable solutions in social, cultural, economic and environmental terms.
  • Design innovative social projects, based on diagnosis, promotion and development management processes.
  • Promote the informed participation of the beneficiary population of social development programs, based on innovative management techniques.

How to enter this postgraduate?

Entry requirements

  • Have a bachelor's degree in Sociology, Public Administration, Psychology, Economics, Social Work, Anthropology or other related disciplines.
  • The Academic Committee will evaluate the acceptance of professionals from other fields.
  • Have passed with a general average equal to or greater than 80 in the undergraduate curriculum.
  • Submit the CENEVAL Postgraduate Entrance Exam, EXANI-III, covering the percentage established by the Academic Committee.
  • Present a general proposal of terminal work in accordance with the modalities offered by the Master's Program in Social Development.

Applicants to pursue the Master in Social Development will possess the following knowledge, skills and attitudes:

Knowledge

  • To have, preferably, with experience in the management of social development programs.

Abilities

  • Possess analytical and critical reading skills.
  • Have skills for writing reviews, reading controls and social research articles.
  • Have knowledge in the handling of word processors, spreadsheets, software for the preparation of presentations.
  • Design strategies for the discriminated search of information on the Internet.
  • Possess oral and written communication skills.

What do you need to get the degree?

Qualification requirements

To obtain a master's degree, you must:

  • Approve the total credits and meet the other requirements established in the corresponding graduate program;
  • Proof of understanding a language other than Spanish, as established by the Academic Committee of the Postgraduate Program according to the study program.
  • Pass the examination of grade in the written phase and in the oral phase before a jury named ex profeso.
  • For the degree of doctor, to pass a general examination of knowledge in the case in which the graduate program contemplates it.
  • Comply with the provisions and requirements demanded by the School Services Office for the issuance of the degree.

Titration options

Thesis

Develop, with methodological rigor and critically, an analysis of public policies in Mexico, their impact on professional practice (especially in relation to the field of social development), as well as an intervention proposal aimed at improving the situation described , which must be consistent with the theoretical orientation of the graduate program. Extension: minimum 60 and maximum 80 pages.

Professional Activity Report

Develop a critical assessment of the exercise itself in professional practice in the field of social development. Extension: minimum 40 and maximum 60 pages.
