The idea of sustainability - in its larger meaning related to environment, society, and economics - became more and more relevant. Nowadays we are pretty close to Kyoto protocol goals (2020) and the Italian context of green economy brings an added value of more than 102 billions euro, equal to 10,3% of the Italian economy. One company on 5 has a sustainable policy and tourism follows this trend too. Sustainable design specialists are more and more demanded by the market, especially in combination with a design made in Italy.
Within this framework, the Master aims at training a new manager able to handle and create the necessary services for a sustainable tourism.
Professional opportunities - Graduated can be employed in the tourism industry as key players to define and develop sustainable strategies, from renowned hotel chains to the newest accommodation formulas - emphasizing the features of a territory, from tourism services to mobility.
Target - The Master is addressed to graduates in economics, humanities, and design wishing to improve their know-how in the field of sustainability for tourism services and development; to Operators and Managers looking for new competencies in this area.
The Master trains highly specialized professionals, carrying competences in the field of sustainability and relevant sectors – a green economy, blue economy, sharing economy - and a transversal approach matching communication, management, and design. This professional belongs to green job category and enters the market either as first employment or as requalification.
Methodology and structure - The course deals with management and communication as well as design features. Design meant as strategic and design ability, a must in IED philosophy, is enhanced thanks to the collaboration with a team of experts and professionals both nationals and internationals.
The course includes frontal lessons, conferences, lab activities, case studies, workshops, as well as practical experiences on a local and national level. The program held in class is supported by a path of personal development of projects and with the support of tutors and professors.
The course includes a one-week experience in one of the most famous and touristic cities: Venice, the ideal location for deepening design management.
