Asset n ° 3: Training in research and pursuing a doctorate or entering the professional world.DescriptionThe Quantitative Sociology and Demography course offers innovative and demanding training in quantitative sociology, in line with the most contemporary developments in the discipline and fully in line with the scientific dynamics of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris .
The training responds to current challenges by relying on the recognized expertise of ENSAE, on the solid teaching experience in this field of UVSQ and on the historical commitment of ENS Paris-Saclay in training. students in quantitative methods. Privileged partnerships with the laboratories of the three establishments (LSQ, Printemps, CESDIP, IDHES, ISP) and collaboration with INED aim to train students in research through research.
Students benefit from learning sociological reasoning coupled with learning demographic and statistical methods, from the most classic to the most innovative, and software (SAS, STATA, R, Python) dedicated to the collection, processing and data analysis, taught and practiced during training. They collectively learn to design an original quantitative survey, to administer it and to analyze the data collected.
Students are familiarized, through thematic courses, with contemporary research in social stratification and inequalities, gender and family, social networks, immigration, lifestyle and cultural practices, health and sociogenetics, political sociology, among others.
Research training involves the follow-up of research seminars in partner laboratories and the completion of a thesis and / or research internship in M1 and M2.
