Master in Public Policy and Management (Dual Degree with Bocconi University)
Sciences Po and the University of Bocconi in Milan have created a dual degree in Management of International and Public Affairs (MIPA). This programme allows students to obtain the University of Bocconi's Laurea Specialistica in Economics and Business of Public Administration and International Institutions and the Sciences Po Master's degree (in either the Master in Public Policy or the Master in European Affairs).
This two-year programme combines the study of economics, management and other social sciences. It aims to engrain young professionals with a truly international background and culture, and to equip them with the skills to operate in national and international public institutions as well as in the private sector or in non-profit organizations.
First year at Sciences Po
During their first year in Paris, students must choose between the Master in Public Policy and the Master in European Affairs.
Master in Public Policy
The Master in Public Policy is based on a multidisciplinary approach to public affairs, with courses that explore the intersection between public policy and cutting-edge technologies, and emphasize policy and decision making 2.0. The languages of instruction are English and/or French.
Only current first-year students registered in the Master in Public Policy at Sciences Po are eligible for this dual degree programme with the University of Bocconi.
Master in European Affairs
This programme is the only dual degree for which students apply during their first year of Master, either at Sciences Po or Bocconi.
The Master in European Affairs aims to prepare students and future managers to work in European affairs, in both the private and the public sectors.
During the first year, students attend courses of the Master in European Affairs (MAE), either only in English or in English and French, and deepen their knowledge of law, economics and the political system of the EU, as well as history and sociology of the European integration project.
Second year at Università Bocconi
The second year takes places at Università Bocconi, in Milan, where students join the Master in Economics and Business of Public Administrations and International Institutions and can choose to follow courses only in English or in English and Italian.
This dual degree permits students to acquire the knowledge and the competencies needed to work in the public or the private sector.
During the second year, students must:
- write and defend a master thesis (Tesi di Laurea) of about 80 pages, in English or in Italian
- complete a 10-week internship in France, Italy or somewhere else in the world (during the summer between the two years of study).
Students may only apply to the dual degree during the first year of their Master at either school.
