Master in Psychology


Program Description


The Master's Degree Programme Psychology prepares graduates for practice in three basic areas: clinical psychology, counseling and school psychology, and psychology of work and organizations. During the study, the graduates will acquire theoretical knowledge and practical competencies for diagnostics, intervention, prevention, and research in the above areas. The study allows specialization by selecting the compulsory subjects and provides the universal psychological education that enables to become successful in different fields in different job positions. The graduates can work in the field of health-care as clinical psychologists and neuropsychologists, in education and social care as counseling and school psychologists, in industrial and organizational areas as work psychologists, as well as researchers in research institutions.

The two-year Master's program Psychology is accredited in Slovakia. The content of the program complies with the standards for obtaining the European Certificate of Psychology that enables performing the activities within the European Union. The Master's program is designed to prepare for professional practice in various areas of specialization, as well as to prepare for further studies at the doctoral level. Teaching focuses on a professional career, applying to real life situations, using active methods that enable students to acquire professional skills and knowledge.


Admission Requirements

Requirements for admission to the Master program of Psychology for international students.

The person interested in studying at FF UPJŠ has to have their study completed in the Bachelor's study program of Psychology, and the study passed shall correspond to the core of the description of the accredited Bachelor's degree study program in Psychology in the Slovak Republic. This pertains to the following core themes and skills of the study branch:

Terms and conditions of admission

The following documents, along with the application form, are required to be submitted in English or in any other language alongside their official translation into Slovak or English:

  • Duly completed form "Application for University Study" for the academic year 2020/2021
  • authenticated photocopy of the certificate and the diploma of graduation in an accredited Bachelor's degree program of Psychology
  • medical certificate of the student´s aptitude to study
  • a brief CV
  • affidavit of the English language proficiency level B1
  • 1 photo size 3.5 x 4.5 cm
  • proof of payment for the admission procedure

On the day of enrolment, the examination will be held in the English language in the form of a written test. If the student fails to demonstrate the knowledge of English at the B1 level, they will have to undergo an intensive English language course of 60 hours which will be provided by UPJŠ for a fee of € 700.00. The student shall pay the fee under the instructions of FF UPJŠ, and this shall not be included within the tuition fee as set out for the study in the English language.

The amount of the tuition fee per the academic year is € 4,500.00.
