The piston engines department prepares masters in the development, research and maintenance of highly efficient, environmentally friendly reciprocating and combined internal combustion engines and engines with external heat supply for ground, water and air transport vehicles and ground, underwater and space based power plants, small-scale mechanization .
Graduates of the department work in Russian and foreign organizations involved in the design, production, research, operation and maintenance of reciprocating and combined engines and engines with external heat supply, as well as vehicles and power plants with these engines. Students of the department study thermal physics, fluid and gas mechanics, solid mechanics, processes of mixture formation and combustion in engines, processes in engine systems, computer design methods, research and development of new generation engines, physical and mathematical modeling, automation of control and scientific research of engines and their systems, the principles of creating environmentally friendly engines and power plants, methods for diagnosing the technical condition and the scientific basis for organizing service maintenance zhivaniya engines, marketing and management, modern information technology to provide full life-cycle engines and power plants, including the technology with remote access to software developed at the department.
Students consolidate their knowledge with practical work in laboratories and display classes equipped with modern measuring systems and computer facilities.
Students participate in the research conducted by the department on orders of the largest engine-building companies in Russia, as well as firms and research centers in Germany, Austria, South Korea, and China, and are actively working in the Student Scientific and Technical Society (SNTO). Well-established students in scientific work are accepted to graduate school.

The Department of Hydromechanics, Hydraulic Machines and Hydropneumatic Automation (E10) was founded in 1914 and has since been the head department in Russia in this area. Graduates of our department designed the largest hydropower plants in the country, designed pumps and hydraulic motors, created hydraulic actuators for missile and aircraft control systems.
From the beginning of the XXI century, the rise in the scientific life of the department began again. The scope of work began to expand, a lot of young teachers and graduate students appeared at the department. And now the department of E-10 is a dynamically developing modern scientific and pedagogical structure that solves modern scientific problems in various fields of technology.
We train professional personnel in hydraulic machines, hydraulic and pneumatic drives for all areas of industry - energy, oil production and oil refining, aviation, astronautics, construction industry, robots, nuclear industry, defense equipment.
The main areas of activity of our graduates are applied hydromechanics, pumps and hydraulic turbines, hydraulic drives for various purposes, pneumatic drives, robotics, mechatronics.
During the training, students have the opportunity to receive a modern, versatile engineering education, to practice at the largest enterprises in the industry, to work at modern experimental stands, to master modern methods of computer modeling.The main areas of student training at the department of E-10:the study of theoretical and applied hydromechanics, computer hydrodynamic modeling (CFD);
development and improvement of paddle and volumetric hydraulic machines (pumps, hydraulic motors, hydraulic transmissions);
design and operation of hydraulic and pneumatic drives for various purposes;
mechatronics, robotics.Students of the department undergo internships at a variety of manufacturing enterprises of pumping equipment, hydraulic drives, factories in the aviation and space industries, oil and gas companies, and in the construction industry.
Our specialty is remarkable in the fact that in almost any industry a hydraulic engineer can find a field of activity, since pumps, hydraulic turbines and hydraulic drives are used in all areas of science and technology.
