Introduction
Why join this program?Asset n ° 1: Acquire a mastery of mathematics, both theoretical and practical. Complete excellent preparation to pursue a doctorate in fundamental mathematics.
Asset n ° 2: Benefit from the expertise of renowned professors and researchers and from privileged access to the research laboratories of the Institut Polytechnique de Paris . Stay in touch with the latest advances in a wide variety of disciplines.
Asset n ° 3: Forging professional experience through the compulsory internship and being able to focus on research via the PhD Track. Prepare for research thanks to partner research laboratories and the compulsory completion of a thesis.DescriptionMaster 1: Mathematics and ApplicationsThe Master 1 Mathematics and Applications aims to provide students with a solid foundation in the main fields of applied mathematics (deterministic and stochastic modeling, optimization, control systems, statistics, scientific calculation), while ensuring the right balance between theory and practice.
The program begins with the constitution of an important common base and gradually leads to specialization. Particular attention is paid to the acquisition of now essential skills: IT, English, communication and project management.
An internship carried out in a university laboratory or in a company allows students to put into practice the knowledge and skills acquired as part of their study program.
This training naturally leads to Master 2 programs or final specializations in applied mathematics, both on theoretical and more applied aspects: modeling and simulation, numerical analysis of partial differential equations, statistics, optimization, operations research and finance.Master 2: Analysis, Arithmetic, GeometryThe Master 2 Analysis, Arithmetic, Geometry provides instruction in fundamental and specialized courses in the three fields of the title, starting with three accelerated courses in September. Most of the courses and teachers are renewed every two years to cover a fairly wide disciplinary field. Students build their training with a varied choice of courses. Teachings will take place at the University of Paris-Sud and at the École Polytechnique. The Master 2 is based on renowned mathematics laboratories which train excellent doctoral students in fundamental mathematics.Master 1: Other specialtiesMathematics Jacques HadamardMaster 2: Other specialtiesAnalysis, Modeling, Simulation (description in French only)

Mathematics of RandomnessobjectivesMaster 1: Mathematics and ApplicationsThis program allows students to:Take a wide range of applied mathematics courses: numerical analysis, random processes, optimization, systems control, statistics, simulation tools.
Study multiple practical applications of mathematics, with a systematic emphasis on underlying mathematical models and structures as well as numerical methods of solving.
Carry out concrete projects, especially digital ones.Master 2: Analysis, Arithmetic, GeometryThis program allows students to:Prepare for a thesis in fundamental mathematics.
Take courses in various disciplines, including: number theory, algebraic geometry, Lie theory, differential geometry, geometric group theory, dynamic systems, harmonic analysis, partial differential equations, etc. .CareerFollowing a second year of the Master, graduates will be able to integrate many sectors where modeling, simulation and optimization play a key role: R&D of large companies, university laboratories or large research institutes.PrerequisitesAcademic prerequisitesBachelor of Science, or equivalent in France or abroad.
Applicants should have a good scientific level in mathematics or applied mathematics and demonstrate, for example, an excellent background in analysis (except integration and Hilbertian analysis), linear algebra, probability or statistical. A good knowledge of a programming tool is also required.Language prerequisitesFrench level B2Application procedureApplications are made exclusively online.
